The Bible instruct us to run the Christian race patiently. It is a race with endurance and not just a sprint. There are things where we need patience

Proverbs 28:22 “He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.”

If you are hasty to acquire what you desires it would surely put you into debt to buy that something. You must trust God right time to provide for you. You need wisdom in your budgeting before purchasing. Have faith in God and consistent in your giving. Avoid being impulsive in your purchasing. You must first learn how to save money and then buy. After saving your money, you noticed that you no longer want to make that purchase or God has changed your mind.

Proverbs 7:21-23 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.”

The young lady and young man of today powerfully attracted to each other thus think of getting too serious and too quickly involving much of themselves in their relationship. According to Proverbs 7:7 “And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,” These young people must slow down and give God the opportunity to reveal His great plan. Young man needs to know His will and follow God. A young man must observe or wait patiently if the girl he is interested in is willing to follow God’s perfect plan in his life. There are some young ladies who only wants a man as long as he is now too much serious about His God. Hence, it is clear that relationship is not God’s will and need to break off. The man should not pursue that relationship and should not regret to give up that relationship. You must find a young lady or young man who loves the Lord more than anyone.

Proverbs 29:20 “Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.”

Before saying some words be careful in rendering words, don’t be rush in speaking then measure your words. Today’s generation have lot of nonsense and foolishness in conversations that sometimes hurt somebody and put in you in trouble. On the other hand, you must take some extra precaution on what you say before God, because you will be accountable before God with what words you have said. In Ecclesiastes 5:2 it says, “Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.” Don’t be easily control by your emotion that would lead to a careless words and create more enemies and problems in your life. Be patient with your words.

2 Timothy 2:24 “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

Be patient in making disciples and don’t be in a hurry to see the result when you minister someone who gotten off track. Don’t give up easily. They will get right with God after you give up handling them. There are times when someone get back on track but after a very long time. Possibly, they will never get right with God when you careless mishandling the process. Don’t loss the patient in ministering to others.

Luke 8:15 “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.”

God desires fruit in our lives but we must wait patiently that we may bring forth fruit. As God works in us and through us, it takes time for the Spirit of God to mature and help us grow. It takes time more time for the Word of God and Christ’s righteousness to bear fruit in our lives as we listened, read, study the Holy Scriptures. It is God’s job to ripen us and we must be patient in bearing fruit. After we sown the seed and watered, we need to learn to wait patiently for the perfect harvest time. Fruit bearing requires much patience.

1 Peter 2:20 “For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.”

We must be willing to suffer with patience because you don’t when God’s intervention will come. You are going to suffer until God intervened if He ever does. Do not fight against suffering because it would only worsen the situation and made you bitter and mad toward God. After the suffering ended, it is now hard to remember how bad and how long the suffering was. Be patient in suffering.

2 Thessalonians 3:5 “And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.”

Romans 8:24-25 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.”

Jesus will come as He promised. Don’t give up and become hopeless. Many religious group doctrinally but deceitfully declared the Lord Jesus will come in their estimated and prophesied date of time. Many people believed it. However, after long years, we are still waiting for that blessed hope of the glorious appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us not give up hope but remain excited of His return as the people during Paul’s day. As the Lord promised He’s coming and never stop waiting but looking with hope and patience.

Conclusion: The Bible in Hebrews 12:1 challenges us to run the race with patience. It takes time to develop many good things in our lives. Be patient in these areas we have discussed in our lesson.
